I've spent the last week going through something that should be front-page news everywhere but somehow isn't. And the deeper I go, the more I understand why.
In October 2024, hackers leaked 100,000 emails from former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak. What those emails reveal about Jeffrey Epstein isn't just disturbing, it's a roadmap to understanding how a convicted sex offender became untouchable.
And in July 2025, the Department of Justice quietly killed an active investigation into his co-conspirators. Fifty survivors had provided testimony. Twenty men had been identified. And someone decided to shut it all down.
Let's talk about what they don't want you to connect.
The Barak Emails: What We Now Know
In October 2024, a pro-Palestinian hacking group called Handala released over 100,000 emails from Ehud Barak's personal accounts, spanning 2007-2016. The emails were authenticated and distributed through Distributed Denial of Secrets, a transparency organization that's basically WikiLeaks 2.0.
What those emails show is stunning.
The Mongolia Deal
In April 2013, one month after leaving his post as Israel's Defense Minister, Barak flew to Mongolia to meet with President Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj. The purpose? Brokering a security cooperation agreement between Israel and Mongolia.
Behind the scenes, coordinating the whole thing: Jeffrey Epstein.
Epstein recruited prominent figures including Larry Summers (economist who served Presidents Clinton and Obama) to sit on a "Mongolia Presidential Advisory Board." Each advisor reportedly earned up to $100,000. The goal was opening the Mongolian market to Israeli defense industry products.
A sex offender. Brokering defense deals. For a nuclear-armed ally.
The Surveillance Industry
The emails reveal Epstein partnered with Barak to invest in Carbyne (formerly Reporty Homeland Security), an Israeli security tech startup.
Barak invested $1 million and became chairman. Epstein invested $1.5 million through offshore shell companies, Southern Trust and Montilla International, both registered in the British Virgin Islands.
What does Carbyne do? It "upgrades" emergency call centers with location data, live video, and metadata streams. Surveillance tech.
In 2018, Peter Thiel's Founders Fund joined a $15 million funding round.
The emails show Epstein using Barak to seek other opportunities in the surveillance industry. They built connections with former Israeli signals intelligence directors. And, according to the leaked correspondence, individuals in Vladimir Putin's circle.
The Israeli Spy in Epstein's Apartment
Here's where it gets darker.
The emails reveal that Yoni Koren, a Lieutenant Colonel in Israeli military intelligence who worked covert operations alongside Mossad, stayed at Epstein's New York apartment for weeks at a time on three separate occasions between 2013 and 2015.
Koren wasn't just crashing there. The emails show Epstein wiring him money. Koren, in turn, served as a covert "fixer" in Washington, arranging meetings with top U.S. national security figures.
One of those figures: Leon Panetta, former CIA Director and Secretary of Defense.
Koren arranged private access to the Pentagon and White House for Barak's family.
At Koren's funeral in 2023, Barak eulogized him as "a talented intelligence officer... with endless loyalty to the role, the IDF and the state."
Drop Site News journalist Murtaza Hussain put it bluntly:
"It looked like Mossad was working for Epstein instead of Epstein working for Mossad."

"He Belonged to Intelligence"
In 2019, journalist Vicky Ward reported something explosive. During Trump transition team vetting for Labor Secretary, Alexander Acosta, the prosecutor who gave Epstein his infamous 2008 sweetheart deal, allegedly explained why he went easy on Epstein:
"I was told Epstein 'belonged to intelligence' and to leave it alone."
Acosta claimed he'd been told to "back off" because Epstein was "above his pay grade."
Now, Acosta later denied this under oath in House Oversight Committee testimony in September 2025. He said he never made that assertion and had no reason to believe Epstein was an intelligence asset.
But here's the thing: the 2008 deal speaks for itself.
Epstein faced federal charges that could have put him away for life. Instead, he pleaded guilty to state charges of soliciting a minor for prostitution. He served 13 months in a work-release program that let him leave jail for 12 hours a day, 6 days a week.
The victims weren't even notified. The deal was kept secret from them.
Whatever Acosta's reasons, something protected Jeffrey Epstein that shouldn't have.

The Maxwell Legacy
To understand Jeffrey Epstein, you have to understand the Maxwell family.
Robert Maxwell, Ghislaine's father, was a British media mogul who allegedly worked as a triple agent for MI6, the KGB, and Mossad. The British Foreign Office suspected him of being "a thoroughly bad character and almost certainly financed by Russia."
But his most enduring connection was to Israel.
The PROMIS Scandal
In the 1980s, a piece of software called PROMIS was developed by a company called Inslaw for managing court case files. According to testimony from Ari Ben-Menashe, a former Israeli Military Intelligence officer, Mossad created a backdoored version of PROMIS and recruited Robert Maxwell to sell it worldwide.
Maxwell allegedly sold the bugged software, worth over $500 million, to intelligence agencies in dozens of countries, including the UK, Australia, Canada, the KGB, and even U.S. nuclear facilities at Sandia and Los Alamos.
Every purchaser was unknowingly being monitored by Israeli intelligence.
His Death
On November 5, 1991, Robert Maxwell was found dead, having gone overboard from his yacht, the Lady Ghislaine, named after his daughter, near the Canary Islands.
The official ruling: heart attack combined with accidental drowning. Three pathologists couldn't agree on the cause.
But here's what happened next.
Robert Maxwell was buried on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem in what was effectively a state funeral. In attendance: Israeli President Chaim Herzog, Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir, and at least six serving and former heads of Israeli intelligence.
Shamir's eulogy: "He has done more for Israel than can today be said."
Ghislaine has always maintained her father was murdered. In 1997, she told Hello! magazine: "One thing I am sure about is that he did not commit suicide. I think he was murdered."

The Blackmail Operation
Ari Ben-Menashe, the former Israeli Military Intelligence officer, claims he met Epstein and Ghislaine in the mid-1980s. He says Robert Maxwell introduced them, and that both were already working with Israeli intelligence at the time.
His claim:
"Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein began a sexual blackmail operation with the purpose of extorting U.S. political and public figures on behalf of Israeli military intelligence."
The methodology, according to Ben-Menashe: provide young girls to prominent politicians, record the encounters with hidden cameras, and use the footage for blackmail.
Now, Ben-Menashe is a controversial figure. Some of his claims have been verified (his Iran-Contra involvement), others remain disputed. Former Israeli PM Naftali Bennett has categorically denied any Epstein-Mossad connection.
But here's what we do know, from court documents and victim testimony:
The Cameras Were Real
Maria Farmer, one of Epstein's earliest accusers, testified that Epstein's homes were "outfitted with hidden video cameras." She said Epstein told her about "mechanical rooms" in the basement where he kept surveillance equipment.
Attorney Spencer Kuvin, who toured Epstein's Manhattan mansion during litigation, stated: "There were cameras in every room in that house... I was able to see where the cameras used to be mounted."
Ghislaine Maxwell herself allegedly told a friend that Epstein's island was "completely wired for video", as "an insurance policy, as blackmail."
During FBI raids in July and August 2019, agents observed recording devices being removed from Little St. James Island.

The CIA Director's Visits
In 2014, William Burns, now Director of the CIA, met with Jeffrey Epstein multiple times. This was six years after Epstein had pleaded guilty to soliciting a minor for prostitution and registered as a sex offender.
Epstein's private calendar showed three meetings: two in Manhattan, one at a law firm in Washington, D.C.
The CIA's official response: Burns was "introduced by a mutual friend" and Epstein "offered general advice on transition to the private sector."
They claim Burns didn't know anything about Epstein's background. The director of the Central Intelligence Agency. Meeting multiple times with a registered sex offender. Without knowing.
When reporters asked the White House about it, Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre declined to comment.

The Investigation They Killed
This is the part that should make your blood boil.
Until January 2025, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York was conducting an active investigation into Epstein and Maxwell's co-conspirators.
Nearly 50 survivors had provided information to prosecutors and FBI agents. They described a "sophisticated sex trafficking conspiracy" and identified at least 20 men as co-conspirators.
Then, according to Rep. Jamie Raskin's November 2025 letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi, something happened.
In January 2025, SDNY prosecutors were ordered to transfer the Epstein case files to DOJ headquarters in Washington, D.C. Neither the survivors nor the prosecutors knew the purpose was to terminate the case.
On July 6, 2025, the DOJ released a two-page memo concluding:
- No evidence Epstein kept a "client list"
- No credible evidence Epstein blackmailed prominent individuals
- No evidence that could predicate investigation against uncharged third parties
- Epstein died by suicide
Fifty survivors. Twenty identified co-conspirators. A multi-billion-dollar international sex trafficking ring.
And they shut it down with a two-page memo.
Raskin's letter:
"I write to demand an explanation for why DOJ has abandoned the women and girls abused by Mr. Epstein, Ms. Maxwell, and their co-conspirators, fired or cut off career prosecutors from the case, and ceased its investigation into one of the largest sex trafficking rings in history."

The Convenient Death
I have to address the elephant in the room.
On August 10, 2019, Jeffrey Epstein was found dead in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York. Official cause: suicide by hanging.
The circumstances:
- Two guards failed to complete over 75 mandatory checks
- Guards allegedly fell asleep and falsified logbooks
- No rounds were conducted for approximately 8 hours
- At least one hallway camera had unusable footage
- Epstein's cellmate was removed the day before
- He was left alone despite a previous suicide attempt 18 days earlier
Dr. Michael Baden, the forensic pathologist hired by Epstein's brother, found three fractures in Epstein's neck, extremely unusual in suicidal hangings, more common in homicidal strangulation. He stated he'd reviewed over a thousand jail hangings and "no one had three fractures."
The official medical examiner stood by the suicide ruling.
Only 16% of Americans believe Epstein died by suicide. 45% believe he was murdered. The rest aren't sure.
The phrase "Epstein didn't kill himself" became the defining meme of 2019, shared by everyone from comedians at the Golden Globes to a congressman who spelled it out across 23 tweets.
But here's what matters: dead men don't testify. And with Epstein gone, the only person who could name names was Ghislaine Maxwell.

Maxwell's Deal
In July 2025, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche met with Ghislaine Maxwell for two days, approximately 9 hours total, at a U.S. Attorney's office in Florida.
According to her attorney, she was asked about "maybe 100 different people" and "didn't hold anything back."
She was granted limited immunity for her testimony.
One week later, she was transferred from a low-security federal prison in Florida to a minimum-security prison camp in Texas, the least restrictive type of federal facility.
Former Bureau of Prisons officials called the transfer "highly unusual." Sex offenders are almost never deemed safe enough for minimum-security camps.
Victims were not notified. Maria and Annie Farmer, along with Virginia Giuffre's family, released a statement expressing "horror and outrage" at the "preferential treatment."
As for what Maxwell knows, we may never find out. When the House Oversight Committee subpoenaed her, she offered to testify only with immunity, questions provided in advance, and an interview location outside the prison. The committee declined.
Her appeal to the Supreme Court was rejected in October 2025. Her only remaining avenue: a pardon from Trump.

- Robert Maxwell was buried with Israeli state honors attended by intelligence chiefs (historical record)
- William Burns met with Epstein multiple times after his conviction (acknowledged by CIA)
- The DOJ killed an active investigation with 50 survivors and 20 identified co-conspirators (Rep. Raskin's letter)
Unproven but alleged:
- Epstein was a formal intelligence asset
- The cameras were used for systematic blackmail
- His death was murder, not suicide
I'm not here to tell you what to believe. I'm here to lay out what's been documented and let you draw your own conclusions.
The Bottom Line
Here's what keeps me up at night:
A convicted sex offender brokered security deals for a nuclear-armed nation. Israeli spies stayed at his apartment. The current CIA director met with him multiple times. His properties were wired with cameras. His victims say the recordings were for blackmail.
And when 50 survivors came forward to identify 20 co-conspirators, the investigation was shut down with a two-page memo.
The question isn't whether Jeffrey Epstein was connected to intelligence. The leaked emails prove he was. The question is: what did they get from him, and what did they give him in return?
And more importantly: who's still being protected?
